Double mountain gorilla safari begins in Rwanda and finishes in Uganda. Safari package features gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Parc National des volcanoes, Mgahinga and Bwindi Gorilla park – then transfer to Lake Mburo for game viewing.
You will have 2 nights at safari accommodation in Parc National des Volcanoes gorilla forests, 2 nights at accommodation in Bwindi Impenetrable gorilla rainforests, 2 nights at your safari lodge / safari camp in Lake Mburo safari Park and drop-off at your preferred destination or accommodation in Kampala / Entebbe.
7 Days (6 nights) Rwanda Gorilla Trek and Oeganda Gorilla Safari
Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda
You will be met on arrival at airport by our Company driver Guide and transfer to Kigali and get briefed about your safari. After lunch, depart for Parc National des Volcanoes at about 2pm. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virungas volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Have overnight at safari accommodation in the park.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking in the Virungas
In the morning, have your breakfast and then transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla trekking safari through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort. In the evening after your gorilla tracking activity, you will transfer to safari accommodation in Kinigi for your dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Rwanda – Uganda Tour
With all the excitement you will be having, you will have your usual morning breakfast and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to search for our dear brothers and sisters. This is one of the most exciting activities for some of you therefore you will enter the tropical moist forest which is a home to half of the remaining mountain gorillas that are consecrated in dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscapes. It is much fun and an unforgettable experience that you can only receive from Uganda. Later in the evening, you will have breakfast and later have dinner and overnight at your safari lodge / safari camp in Bwindi.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
You will be briefed by a ranger guide immediately after taking your breakfast and there after, you will enter into the Gorilla Sanctuary for your adventure. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals in the forest include the endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and many others. The park is known for its fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these marvellous primates. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare moving, awesome and exciting adventure. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge / safari camp in Bwindi
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park
You are entitled to have breakfast and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will have lunch on your way to Mbarara and later in the evening, you will be able to see animals’ like impalas, zebras, buffalos, topis, elands, oribis and many others. Along with the game drive, many visitors also enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo. You will also see a good number of bird species some of which include; Papyrus gonoleks, Brown-faced lapwings, Carruther’s Cisticola, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-faced Go-away bird. After that activity, you will have dinner and overnight at preferred safari accommodation in Lake Mburo safari park.
Day 6: Game drive in Lake Mburo national park
Just after having your morning breakfast, drive to L. Mburo NP, a park that is much enriched with a variety of attractions.
Lake Mburo is dominated by extensive wetlands, rolling grassy hills, seasonal and permanent swamps, wooden savannah, and forests, which harbours a variety of plants and animal species. It is because of these diverse ecosystems that render the park to be one of the richest in bio diversity like Zebras, Elands, and Buffaloes, Impalas, Roam Antelopes, Leopards, Hyenas, Hippos, Bush bucks, and Klipspringer. The presence of the Lake within the park enables visitors to take a boat ride do sport fishing and see the Crocodiles, Pelicans, Shoebill stork, Hippos, Cormorants, Fish eagles, and a lot more.
After lunch take a boat trip on Lake Mburo and see for yourself the Crocodiles, Pelicans, Hippos, Herons and the rare Shoebill stork. Later go for a guided nature walk to the salt lick area where there is a blind observatory animal that can allow you to see more than four different animal species licking salt from the salty soils. In the evening, transfer back to your safari lodge/safari camp for your dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Kampala City Tour
You will wake up in the morning, have your breakfast and then begin the journey to Kampala. When you get to Kampala and time allows, you will visit the Namugongo martyrs shrine, Bahai temple, Uganda Museum, Makerere University, Kasubi tombs, Iteso cultural dance near Kasubi, Namirembe and Rubaga cathedral, Kabaka’s lake, shopping arcades in town and craft shops including National theatre. You may organize an excursion out of Kampala or take a flight back to your home country. End of Rwanda / Uganda gorilla safari package.
